Samantha Boulanger
Upcyclist and Fine Artist with a keen interest in photography & printmaking, particularly cyanotypes, linocut and eco printing, mostly inspired by the forms, patterns, textures found in nature, woodlands, landscapes, wild life and animals; especially her whippet Guto.
Samantha Boulanger is currently moving/inbetween studios but lives (& works) in Swyddffynnon, Ceredigion, Mid Wales. In July 2019, she graduated from Aberystwyth University with a BA Fine Art (First Class Honours) and in September 2021 completed her MA also in Fine Art.
Passions are predominantly photography and printmaking, often combining these together as well as introducing other media to create unique hybrid prints and collages. More recent explorations have taken her into the historical photographic process of Cyanotype; but with an alchemical contemporary twist, also botanical ecoprinting.
Inspiration comes from the natural world, woodlands, landscapes and animals. Also intrigued by the ordinary, the patterns, textures and tonal qualities that surround us, often recreating what is seen as quite mundane and ordinary into something very unique and interesting. Samantha's art practice is definitely driven by an innate curiosity and playfulness; experimenting with the processes themselves and exploring more closely texture, composition, layering, abstraction and the various interactions between printmaking and photography.
