Ann Lewis RCA
A recent resident of the characterful castle town of Denbigh, I'm enjoying a very different kind of landscape - a mix of urban and rural, with sunsets and sunrises illuminating sweeping views across the Vale of Clwyd.
Having recently stepped aside from my role as the first female President of the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art, I'm entering an exciting new chapter, firmly focused on my practice and development of my new studio and teaching space.
My work will remain deeply rooted in the Welsh landscape, where I'm constantly inspired by the relentless action of water on the land and its impact on the environment.
I enjoy every stage of my printmaking - from those first "scribbly" sketches in the field, to the planning of a new edition and the rhythmic precision of cutting and printing. Whether I am hand-burnishing or using one of my presses, my new creative space in Denbigh provides the perfect sanctuary to bring my linocuts to life.
